AT&T Partners with VMware for Cloud Solution
(The Hosting News) – Popular telecommunications provider AT&T unveiled a new virtual private cloud solution on Monday that provides compatibility with virtualization provider VMware.
The company has taken its Synaptic Compute as a Service and integrated it with VMware’s vCloud Datacenter Service. Provided for through the AT&T network, the company says that access to the solution is available to over 350 thousand VMware users.
According to AT&T, features of the new service include provisioning and scaling, deployment, disaster recovery and mobile app development. Users can already get the cloud in the U.S. and AT&T is readying its launch worldwide for some time later this year.
“Our new cloud offer with VMware can help customers simplify the way they orchestrate their cloud resources between private and public clouds, allowing them to have the best of both worlds,” stated AT&T VP of As a Service Solutions John Potter in a press release.
Meanwhile, the solution is already catching on. Highlighted in a press release from the telecommunications provider was cloud travel company Concur which relies on the AT&T Synaptic Compute as a Service for disaster recovery.
Concur plans to use the new AT&T solution with VMware to backup its virtualized network.
Before the virtual private cloud could be launched, certification was required through VMware. VMware VP of Cloud Infrastructure Services Dan Chu said the solution “harnesses the security, performance and reliability of AT&T’s network-based cloud with the industry-leading VMware vCloud platform that is the standard datacenter environment for our enterprise customers.”
